About Me

Dr. Luciana A. Vieira is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist and maternal-fetal medicine specialist providing expert, comprehensive care for women at high risk for complications during pregnancy. Her patient-centered approach, deep empathy and commitment to evidence-informed practices make her a trusted partner in the journey to healthy pregnancies.

Dr. Vieira has special interests in pregnancies complicated by gestational diabetes, maternal medical conditions (e.g. hypertensive disorders, preeclampsia, lupus, cardiac disease), multiple gestations, history of poor obstetric outcomes including preterm delivery, as well as fetal anomalies. Dr. Vieira also specializes in obstetric ultrasound and obstetric procedures, including amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling (CVS), percutaneous umbilical blood sampling/intrauterine transfusion, and cerclage placement. Her research interests include diabetes in pregnancy, adverse pregnancy outcomes and long-term maternal health, procedures in multiple gestations, and cervical length screening.

Dr. Vieira earned her medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in obstetrics/gynecology at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. She completed her fellowship in maternal fetal medicine at The Mount Sinai Hospital. She also holds a master’s degree in epidemiology from the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health.

Dr. Vieira has published in several peer-reviewed journals and has presented at national conferences on the topics of cervical length screening, procedures in multiple gestations, maternal conditions in pregnancy, and perinatal epidemiology. She is currently a member of the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine, the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, and the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Outside of the office, you will find Dr. Vieira out and about Fairfield County with her three energetic kids, exploring beaches, hiking trails, farmer’s markets, and her kids’ sporting events.
