Stamford Health Receives Top Hospital Safety Grade from Leapfrog

Published: November 07, 2019

Stamford, CT/November 7, 2019 – Stamford Hospital is the only hospital in Fairfield County to receive an “A” from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, for protecting patient safety.

Leapfrog’s Fall Hospital Safety grades were released earlier today, and Stamford Health’s “A” rating recognizes its performance in protecting patients from harm and providing safer healthcare in areas such as infection prevention, and preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, and other harms to patients.

“I am proud of the efforts made by every individual, every day, and at every level across the organization, to maintain a safe care environment with a keen focus on evidence-based care practices,” said Rohit Bhalla, MD, MPH, Vice President and Chief Quality Officer, Stamford Health. “We are pleased to receive the Leapfrog rating, one of several external recognitions that validate our hospital’s dedication to drive the best outcomes for our patients.”

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades, ranging from “A” to “F” to more than 2,600 U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year.
