Stamford, CT/May 1, 2020 – Stamford Hospital is once again the only hospital in Fairfield County to receive an “A” from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, for protecting patient safety.
Leapfrog’s Spring Hospital Safety grades were released last week, and Stamford Health’s “A” rating recognizes its performance in protecting patients from harm and providing safer healthcare in areas such as infection prevention, and preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, and other harms to patients. Achievements on essential quality and safety measures are an important reminder of the excellent care front line healthcare workers provide to patients not only in extraordinary times such as the COVID-19 pandemic, but also every day.
“I am proud of the efforts made by every individual, every day, and at every level across the organization, to maintain a safe care environment with a keen focus on evidence-based care practices,” said Rohit Bhalla, MD, MPH, Senior Vice President of Clinical Affairs & Quality and Chief Clinical & Quality Officer, Stamford Health. “Our focus on key infection prevention measures is particularly important right now as our organization has been significantly impacted by COVID-19. The Leapfrog rating is a reminder that, our team and facility are well prepared to safely care for patients, COVID or otherwise.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 28 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign grades, ranging from “A” to “F” to more than 2,600 U.S. acute-care hospitals twice per year.
