After serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for 15 years starting in 2003, she was promoted to President and CEO of Stamford Health in 2018.

In her roles as Executive Vice President and now President & CEO, Kathleen provides the vision and leadership which has resulted in Stamford Health’s continued growthand accomplishing many milestones. Kathleen's expertise and foresight led to the on-time and under-budget development of the new Stamford Hospital on the Bennett Medical Center campus in 2016, a $450 million facility that was the first LEED-Certified hospital in Connecticut.

Under Silard’s leadership, Stamford Health has experienced meaningful growth and advanced both quality and clinical programs, achieving recognition from major organizations such as U.S. News & World Report, Magnet, the American Heart Association, Great Place to Work™, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the Leapfrog Group, and Planetree International. Stamford Health has  established collaborative relationships with the Hospital for Special Surgery and the Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Center, and an expanded relationship with the Columbia University Irving Medical Center, bringing the country’s best clinical care to Fairfield County. Kathleen shepherded Stamford Health through the COVID-19 pandemic, collaborating with community partners to serve at-risk groups, and even forging a unique partnership with the military to set up an alternative care site that was a regional resource during the 2020 spring surge. In recent years, Stamford Health has experienced significant growth in all clinical programs including behavioral health, cancer, cardiovascular, clinical research & trials, imaging & radiology, neuroscience, orthopedics, pediatrics, rehabilitation, surgical specialties, and women’s health.

Stamford Health’s Medical Staff has grown to over 1,200 physicians with several hundred employed by Stamford Health Medical Group. In addition, the network of ambulatory sites has grown significantly, from Greenwich to Westport including sites in Stamford, Darien, New Canaan, Norwalk and Wilton.

Kathleen began her career as a nurse in the pediatrics and the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Albert Einstein Hospital in New York, before entering the field of healthcare administration. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for various healthcare organizations including AdvanceCT, Connecticut Governor’s Workforce Council, and Greater New York Hospital Association. She is also on the Executive Committee of the Connecticut Hospital Association and is the recipient of several awards recognizing her dedication to local service in the community.
