If your doctor has referred you to a surgical oncologist as part of your treatment, our team is ready to answer every question and address every concern that you have. We will work together with you and your medical team to develop a personalized plan for your specific disease.

Our Carl & Dorothy Bennett Cancer Center offers an evidence-based, team approach, to your cancer care.

Stamford Health’s nurse navigators work as part of a multidisciplinary oncology team to provide support to patients through their cancer treatment and into survivorship. They answer questions, coordinate appointments and services, and offer referrals to additional resources, if needed.

Our team participates in weekly tumor board conferences to review and assess individual cases.

The Surgical Oncology Department works with Stamford Health’s Department of Clinical Trials & Research to identify clinical trials that can lead to new treatment opportunities and a better quality of life.

Meet Our Director Of Surgical Oncology

Dr. Antonio I. Picon is a surgical oncologist that specializes in the treatment of complex general surgery cases and surgery of benign and malignant tumors. He is an expert in the management of complex general surgery cases and benign and malignant tumors of the gastrointestinal tract. He works with a multidisciplinary team dedicated to providing patients with the highest level of care.

In addition to his surgical oncology experience, Dr. Picon brings a wealth of experience to the area of minimally invasive and robotic surgery as well as complex general surgery procedures. He has been actively involved in the training of general surgery residents and fellows throughout his career.
