Birth Control Methods & Early Pregnancy Options

The Women’s Specialty Center at Stamford Health is here to help with family planning and contraception options. Our expert staff of board-certified OB-GYNs and nurses can advise on the effectiveness, side effects, and convenience of each contraceptive method to help determine the most appropriate method for you. If you think you might be pregnant, our Early Pregnancy Assessment Program can help determine if the pregnancy is viable and provide a referral to our OB-GYNs, maternal-fetal medicine specialists, or geneticists.

Regardless of the reason that you come to us, our team will work collaboratively with your doctor as well as our specialists to provide personalized care for you.

Contraceptive Services Offered

For most women, birth control, or contraception, is a matter of choosing from the many safe and effective options available. However, people with complex medical issues like high blood pressure or a bleeding disorder may require specialized consultation and monitoring for contraception. At Stamford Health, our specialists are experts in complex contraception and offer counseling to determine the best birth control and sexual health options for you. We also offer sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing. Our contraceptive services include:

  • Hormonal birth control methods (including IUDs, pills, vaginal ring, and implants).
  • Non-hormonal birth control methods (such as condoms, diaphragms, and certain IUDs).
  • Emergency contraception.
  • Female tubal sterilization.

Early Pregnancy Options

Navigating the first few weeks of pregnancy can be challenging. If you have questions or concerns during this time, you could be a candidate for the Early Pregnancy Assessment Program. Our team works in close partnership with OB-GYNs, maternal-fetal medicine specialists, and genetic counselors to manage pregnancies that are complicated or require additional medical support. After a consultation, we’ll be able to offer:
