About Me

Dr. Bibek Koirala is a fellowship-trained infectious disease physician and double board-certified in internal medicine and infectious disease. He has extensive training in numerous infectious diseases including those caused by parasites, bacteria, and viruses. Dr. Koirala cares for patients with bone and joint infections, complicated and complex infections, heart valve infections, cancer, HIV/AIDS, Lyme disease, pneumonia and patients who are immunocompromised. He has a particular interest in caring for patients diagnosed with viral hepatitis and those who are HIV positive.

As an infectious disease physician, Dr. Koirala is committed to educating his patients about their health condition – helping patients understand the cause of the infection, its treatment, and the recovery process. In 2013, he received the Edward H. Kass Award for Clinical Excellence from the Massachusetts Infectious Disease Society, recognizing his skill and expertise.

He served as Co-investigator on the Cdiffense trial working to evaluate the safety, immunogenicity, and efficacy of a toxoid vaccine for the prevention of primary symptomatic Clostridium difficile Infection (CDI). He was the Principal Investigator of a lecture-based intervention evaluating knowledge, attitude and practice behavior of internal medicine residents in taking care of patients with limited English proficiency. His findings were presented at Harvard Medical School Medical Education Day.

Dr. Koirala completed his residency in internal medicine at Mount Auburn Hospital/Harvard Medical School and his Fellowship in infectious disease at the University of Massachusetts.

In his free time, Dr. Koirala enjoys traveling, trekking, reading (with a special interest in world history and geography), and participating in outdoor sports.

Patient Reviews & Comments

Info

All patient satisfaction ratings are submitted by patients who have confirmed email addresses. After their visit, these patients receive a survey within a few days. They complete the survey online, providing feedback on specific aspects of their care. We use this feedback to improve our services and ensure each patient has an exceptional experience. To respect our patients' time, we only send out surveys once every 90 days, regardless of how many times they visit the clinic.
