Joseph C. Hung, MD

About Me

Dr. Joseph Hung is a triple board-certified specialist with expertise in interventional pain management and clinical informatics. He specializes in diagnosing and treating painful spine conditions, using minimally invasive procedures to help patients manage pain, restore mobility, and improve their quality of life.

Dr. Hung trained at Johns Hopkins and Harvard Medical School - Massachusetts General Hospital. At Johns Hopkins, he was chosen as Chief Resident by his peers and faculty in recognition of his excellence in clinical care, teamwork, and leadership.

Beyond his medical expertise, Dr. Hung holds degrees in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania and in Biomedical Informatics from the Oregon Health and Science University. Before medical school, he worked in Information Technology at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, UBS Investment Bank, and Lockheed Martin Space Systems, gaining valuable experience in technology-driven problem-solving.

As both a physician and computer engineer, Dr. Hung integrates cutting-edge medical advancements and clinical informatics to enhance patient care. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, contributed to medical textbooks, and lectures at national pain management conferences.

Dr. Hung is currently on staff at HSS and serves as an Assistant Professor at Weill Cornell Medical College. His academic interests include designing and optimizing clinical information systems to improve healthcare delivery and patient safety
