In 2001, Dr. Plancher founded The Orthopaedic Foundation for Active Lifestyles (OFALS), a non-profit 501(c)3 organization with the mission of developing and promoting research and supportive technologies that enhance physical wellbeing to maintain a healthy and active lifestyle. The Orthopaedic Foundation participates in clinical trials and offers educational programs to the community including health education seminars that teach people about topics like sports injury prevention and rehabilitation for “weekend warriors”. OFALS also hosts young scholars from the community to their BioSKills lab for their unique “Doctor for the Day” program that provides hands-on medical education using simulated surgical techniques.
