About Me

Accepting New Patients by Physician Referral Only.

Dr. Marco Christian Michael, who also has a bachelor of medical science with honours, is a board- certified psychiatrist with fellowship training in geriatric psychiatry, specializing in the diagnosis and management of mental conditions affecting older adults. Dr. Michael completed a double degree track – medical doctorate (MD) from Universitas Indonesia and an honours degree in biomedical sciences from Monash University, Australia. He completed psychiatry residency training at State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate in New York, where he served as PGY-4 and academic chief resident in his final year of residency training.

Dr. Michael then completed geriatric psychiatry fellowship training at Weill Cornell Medicine/New York Presbyterian (NYP) Westchester Behavioral Health Center.

During an initial visit, Dr. Michael performs a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, formulates a working mental health diagnosis, and collaborates with patients and their care partners towards an individualized treatment plan. This may include lifestyle modifications, psychotherapy, pharmacotherapy, interventional psychiatry, or referral to specialized community programs. His advanced training instills hope in patients with difficult-to-treat mental health conditions, and/or those who have emerging conditions associated with complex medical comorbidities.

Dr. Michael has published in peer-reviewed journals, co-authored textbook chapters, created didactic materials and self-evaluation questionnaires, and presented at national and international meetings on a range of topics, including geriatric psychiatry, psychotherapy, cultural psychiatry, psycho-oncology, and interventional psychiatry. He is the recipient of many awards, including the Association for Academic Psychiatry (AAP)'s Resident Psychiatric Educator Award and SUNY Downstate’s Resident Advocate of the Year Award.
