About Me

Neal Schamberg, MD, is a board-certified gastroenterologist and hepatologist who specializes in the treatment and diagnosis of patients with conditions affecting the digestive tract and the liver, gallbladder and pancreas.

Dr. Schamberg received advanced fellowship training in gastroenterology at Weill Cornell Medical Center, where he was trained in minimally invasive and endoscopic techniques. This training allowed him to bring innovations such as endoscopic ultrasound and Barrett’s esophagus ablation to patients throughout the region.

At Stamford Health, Dr. Schamberg serves as an interventional gastroenterologist at the Heartburn, Reflux, and Esophageal Specialty Center. The center specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of esophageal disorders and provides a multidisciplinary approach to care.

Dr. Schamberg is a regional leader in therapeutic endoscopy, especially related to treatment and prevention of gastrointestinal cancers such as those of the esophagus, stomach, pancreas and colon/rectum. He is also an expert in Inflammatory Bowel Disease and regularly gives lectures to patient groups and healthcare providers.

Dr. Schamberg has been recognized for his quality care by Connecticut Magazine, Castle Connelly and the Fairfield/Westchester Chapter of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America.

During his free time, Dr. Schamberg enjoys spending time with his family, playing golf and tennis and traveling. He is also an avid sports fan.
