My specialty is clinical cardiology in critical care, athletes screening, valvular heart disease, multi-modality imaging and vascular longevity.

As the new Chief of Cardiology at Stamford Hospital what other medical professionals do you work with and what are some of your goals for the department?

We have many outstanding cardiologists and support staff in our cardiology department. The cardiologists from Stamford Based Heart Physicians, and Cardiology Associates of Fairfield County all have impressive background and superb clinical skills. We also have world-renowned Dr. Antonio Colombo on medical staff providing advanced procedures in interventional cardiology and structural heart disease. Some of my initial goals are promoting our signature services to the community, such as rapid response to heart attacks, the best fitness and cardiac rehab facility in the region, and referrals to our outstanding cardiac surgery program.

What is one recent advancement in your field that is innovative or integral to your work?

The translational cardiovascular medicine and the initial clinical adoption of personalized medicine, guided by genetic assays.

What is the most common problem you see in your patients?

The concern for coronary artery disease and prevention of serious complications and death.

Why do you do what you do? What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Cardiovascular Medicine is my passion and entire career. This is the specialty with evolving science and rapid application of new technology. The most rewarding part of my job is to work with the best colleagues in the field, with direct access to the advanced technology and our senior leadership. I feel that what we do can have a meaningful impact on the patients with heart and vascular problems and can help promote the concept of healthy life styles and vascular longevity.
