COVID-19 Message From CEO

“There is no doubt that these are very positive signs, and while it is not currently possible to pinpoint when we'll be able to resume all of our services, we are already planning for that day." - Kathleen Silard, Stamford Health President & CEO.

Hear Her Message

I am grateful. Grateful to our physicians and employees for working tirelessly since we saw our first case of COVID-19 in March, and grateful to you for entrusting us with your care.

I’m also grateful for the sacrifices the entire community has made to stay home and stay safe as we passed through the peak of the pandemic. We are now seeing large declines in COVID-19 and you may be wondering, “what is the ‘new normal?’” As a mother, wife and friend who lives right here in this community, I have often wondered the same.

Here at Stamford Health, we never stopped seeing patients because your health didn’t stop being a priority. Babies still need to come into the world, and diseases like cancer and strokes still need treatment. We are now resuming more routine services, and I can assure you that we are going above and beyond, in line with the most up-to-date research, to ensure every one of our care settings is safe.

At all Stamford Health facilities, you can expect the following enhanced precautions:

  • Even More Thorough Cleaning—All exam rooms are cleaned and disinfected between patient visits. We are exceeding requirements as part of our robust infection prevention protocols.
  • Screening & Testing—Everyone who enters a Stamford Health location is screened for symptoms – that means every employee, every patient, every care partner. When you visit us, expect to answer a series of questions and have your temperature taken. If you have a scheduled procedure, we require you to be tested no more than 48 hours before. Testing availability, including antibody testing, is also more easily accessible.
  • Patient Separation in the Hospital—We are segregating patients with COVID-19 from those without the virus. You will not be on the same floor as patients who test positive for COVID-19.
  • Visitation Policies—We have continued to temporarily restrict visitors to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. You can see more details about visitation here.
  • Face Masks & Hand Hygiene—All patients and employees are required to wear masks and wash their hands or use hand sanitizer before entering our facilities. If you don’t have a mask, we will supply one.
  • Social Distancing—Rely on us to practice and enforce safe social distancing in all of our waiting rooms.

Reopening of locations and resuming services at Stamford Health:

We never stopped performing emergent procedures, but for the services that were suspended, many have resumed. Your doctor will contact you to reschedule any procedure you had to postpone. Please refer to this page for frequent updates as we work to resume all Stamford Health services, step by step.

Don’t delay immediate or emergency care:
Stamford Health’s adult and pediatric emergency departments remain safe, prepared and available to you – many patients have expressed their thanks for this. As of Monday, the Immediate Care Center at Stamford Health’s Tully Health Center has reopened. And remember, in a true emergency, dial 9-1-1.

See your doctor—it’s easy and safe:
Stamford Health is offering virtual care options, in addition to telephone and in-person appointments so you can meet your heath needs.

In addition to being grateful, I am proud and inspired. Proud of how far we have come as a community, and inspired to see even more progressive, accessible and efficient healthcare options emerge so we can continue to provide you with the best possible care.

Sincerely,

Kathleen Silard, MS, BSN, RN, FACHE
