When her 12-year-old daughter had an allergic reaction, Jaime turned to the experienced, caring staff at Stamford Health.

This past July, her daughter, Chloe, experienced an allergic reaction—enough to instill panic into any parent. When the family arrived at Stamford Hospital on the Bennett Medical Center campus, Stamford Health’s Pediatric Emergency Department staff attended to Chloe immediately. The team observed and cared for Chloe over the course of a few hours before she was cleared to go home with her family.

Jaime recalled, “Even with the world flipped upside down due to COVID-19, the hospital maintained all protocols during this difficult and uncertain time. I have to applaud how [the entire process] was managed during the height of the pandemic.”

Health systems all over the country are urging patients not to delay care, especially in the event of an emergency. “Even in a pandemic, babies still need to be born, annual physicals are still important and emergencies like allergic reactions are bound to happen,” said Kathleen Silard, President and CEO. “Emergency care was among the highest of priorities during the peak of COVID-19. Also, when we built Stamford Hospital, we knew there was a demand for pediatric emergency care and we’re proud to have been the first in the area to have a dedicated pediatric emergency department to meet the unique needs of children,” she added.

Jaime was especially appreciative of the staff’s attentiveness, friendliness and non-stop communication at every level. She and her husband were able to focus entirely on their daughter’s wellbeing rather than on the environment and safety.
