Stamford Hospital Earns ‘A’ Hospital Safety Grade from Leapfrog Group
STAMFORD, CT / May 6, 2026 – Today, Stamford Hospital earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, an independent national nonprofit focused on patient safety. Leapfrog assigns an “A”, “B”, “C”, “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country using evidence-based measures of patient safety focused exclusively on errors, accidents, injuries and infections. Out of 27 hospitals in Connecticut to receive ratings from The Leapfrog Group this reporting period, Stamford Hospital was one of 18 to receive an “A.”
“Our expert staff and physicians remain dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate care to our patients every day," stated Kathleen Silard, President and CEO of Stamford Health. “Thank you to my colleagues for advancing our vision of being the most trusted healthcare partner for the communities we serve.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade stands as the only hospital ratings program focused solely on preventable medical errors, infections and injuries. In the current release, Stamford Hospital maintained strong performance on safe practices and hospital complications measures.
“An ‘A’ Grade is a strong sign that Stamford Hospital is deeply committed to protecting patients from harm,” said Leah Binder, President and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We commend the leadership, Board, clinicians, staff and volunteers for the role each played in earning this distinction.”
“Achieving such high-quality outcomes requires unwavering commitment, continuous improvement, and a culture that prioritizes the well-being of our patients,” stated Rohit Bhalla, MD, MPH, Senior Vice President and Chief Clinical and Quality Officer at Stamford Health. “Thank you to our compassionate caregivers for their steadfast dedication to patient safety.”
This program is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Grades are updated twice annually, in the fall and spring. To see Stamford Hospital’s full grade details and to access patient tips for staying safe in the hospital, visit HospitalSafetyGrade.org.
