Some women with fibroids have no symptoms. Talk to your doctor if you have:

  • A mass near the middle of your pelvis
  • Bleeding between periods
  • Blood clots
  • Constipation
  • Fatigue, weakness, dizziness or other signs of anemia
  • Frequent urination
  • Heavy bleeding and fatigue during your periods
  • Pain during sex
  • Pelvic pain or pressure
  • Low back pain

Am I At Risk For Uterine Fibroids?

You’re at higher risk for fibroids if you:

  • Are approaching menopause
  • Are African American
  • Eat a diet high in red meat
  • Have a family history of fibroids
  • Have high blood pressure

Uterine Fibroid Treatment

You’ll work with your doctor to determine the best possible treatment option for you. We offer:

  • Endometrial ablation – Removes a thin layer of tissue that lines the uterus
  • Hormonal medications and intrauterine devices – Reduce heavy and painful menstrual bleeding
  • Hysterectomy – Removes the uterus; often performed laparoscopically (minimally invasive)
  • Myomectomy, or fibroid excision – Removes fibroids from your uterus
  • Nonhormonal medications – Lighten heavy bleeding during your period
  • Uterine artery embolization (uterine fibroid embolization) – Eliminates fibroids by cutting off their blood supply
