What is the Stamford Children’s Health Collaborative?

The Stamford Children’s Health Collaborative was started in 2004 by Madhu Mathur, MD, Obesity Medicine Pediatrician. Originally named The Childhood Obesity Prevention and Intervention Task Force, it was initially formed as a citywide collaborative effort to educate the community about ways to combat obesity using the 5-2-1-0 daily health message.

In 2016, the name was changed to the Stamford Children’s Health Collaborative in an effort to broaden its scope beyond obesity prevention and redefine childhood health to include physical and social-emotional well-being as well as nutrition and exercise.

Under the leadership of Chair Dr. Deborah Pinto, the Collaborative remains committed to networking and sharing information about programs and services that benefit the health of children in the community. The group meets four times annually and consists of local organizations who come together to raise awareness and collaborate on youth-focused healthcare goals and initiatives.
