As a level II trauma center designated by the American College of Surgeons (ACS), Stamford Health is committed to the prevention and treatment of adult and pediatric trauma patients. Our highly trained emergency medicine physicians, available 24/7, can assess and treat all injuries ranging from mild to serious.

  • Our Emergency Department is staffed by multiple trauma surgeons, who are fellowship-trained in trauma and surgical critical care.
  • Our interdisciplinary Department of Surgery, Trauma Services division also includes a trauma program manager, trauma performance improvement coordinator, and trauma quality data coordinator.
  • We are a verified level II trauma center by the ACS. With the ability to treat both children and adults, we can provide total care from pre-hospital patient management through the rehabilitation phase of patient recovery. Additionally, our trauma program offers injury prevention activities for the community and educational events that cover a variety of topics. Stamford Health’s Trauma Program is a proud participant in the ACS Trauma Quality Improvement Program. This program provides risk-adjusted benchmarking data, that weighs our program amongst other trauma centers across the nation.

Trauma Survivors Network (TSN)

Stamford Health is a participant in the American Trauma Society’s Trauma Survivors Network. Traumatic injury not only has a physical impact on the patient and family but an emotional one as well. The focus of Stamford Health’s Trauma Survivors Network program is to offer support for patients and their families dealing with the aftermath of their injury. As part of this free program, patients and their families have access to useful information on injuries and their treatments, PTSD and mental health screening, national and regional support groups, the opportunity to connect with other survivors and families, and information about additional programs, resources and services.

SAFE DRIVING INITIATIVES

We are a proud partner of the Not One More: Health Care Heroes Against Impaired Driving campaign to prevent impaired and distracted driving in Connecticut.

STOP THE BLEED INSTRUCTION

As part of the national program, we offer classes providing instruction on techniques to control bleeding until medical services can arrive.

ADULT FALLS PREVENTION

To reduce the risk of (and fear of) injury from falls in older adults, our program emphasizes the importance of balance and exercise.
