Message from Program Director

“Thank you for visiting our webpage to learn about our program.

If you’re interested in a career as an independent comprehensive family physician, then the Stamford Hospital/Columbia University Family Medicine Residency Program offers a chance to gain the knowledge necessary to pursue this career in whatever form is best for you.

Established in 1977, the program trains residents to be excellent family physicians by applying the family practice principles of comprehensiveness, continuity, compassion, personal care, prevention, community involvement, family orientation, and commitment to continuing education throughout the residency experience.

Through lectures, consultation with our excellent specialists, formal reading assignments, discussion with faculty, and (most importantly) managing their own patients, the opportunity is virtually limitless for residents to expand their knowledge base in the area of family practice.

We pride ourselves as a program and institution that recognizes that the success of our residents is the foundation on to which a quality institution providing excellent patient care is built.

I have been fortunate enough to be a part of this Program, and the Stamford community, for over two decades, and in that time, I’ve watched our Program grow, refine and evolve in to the program it is today.  Come experience our culture of compassion, support, respect, and camaraderie firsthand.”
