About Me

Socnite Sebourne-Francis is double board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), specializing in hematology/medical oncology at Bennett Cancer Center. She received her Bachelor of Nursing degree and Doctor of Nursing degree from Sacred Heart University.

She started her career as a registered nurse at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, Bridgeport, CT, working as Float RN and then on the Oncology unit. She went on to work as a Hospice and Home Visiting Nurse in Fairfield County. She comes to the Bennett Cancer Center in Stamford, CT, with more than 11 years of nursing experience. 

She was tasked to support the health of patients who are faced with life threatening dilemmas, seeking to find the best clinical approach to alleviate their suffering. She has been clinically instrumental in making a difference in the population of patients she serves. She has proven herself as a leader with a sense of urgency and purpose, practicing a high standard of equitable and quality care for both the patients and staff she serves.

As a researcher in palliative care, she understands the importance and impact of the timing of a care consultation as it relates to a patient’s mortality or the readmission rate. She draws on the latest evidence-based research to provide extensive education to her patients regarding their well-being and the welfare and quality of life of the community at large.

She is an active member of several professional organizations: Oncology Nursing Society (ONS), American Association of Nurse Practitioners, American Nurses Credentialing Center Sigma Theta Tau International, Honor Society of Nursing, and Mu Delta Chapter. She served as a mentor and a preceptor to incoming nursing students from surrounding universities.

Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, spending time with her three children, husband, and going to concerts.
