Welcome to the Healthy Child! We are dedicated to providing personal care in a small group practice. We strive to care for all physical and emotional aspects of a child’s health.
We work hard to offer you the highest quality of care while getting to know you and your children. We follow the guidelines of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Our physicians are all Board Certified. Immunizations are a very important part of preventative medicine and we strongly believe in their efficacy in preventing illness and saving lives.
You as parents are an integral part of the treatment team. We want to listen to your concerns and allow adequate time to do so. Please let the receptionists know when you call to schedule what kind of appointment you need so that we can plan accordingly.
We do recommend that parents select a primary physician so that we can get to know you and your children. This allows for better continuity of care and a more personalized approach. We use electronic medical records which are better for keeping records organized and having access to all your records at any time that we need them. We also maintain separate sick and well waiting rooms to minimize the spread of germs, and we are proud to be the only pediatrics practice in the area to offer this. We are cognizant of potential transmission of illness and so we never have newborns wait in any waiting room.
We are fortunate to have an exceptional staff. Everyone here is kind and compassionate and strives to insure that your family has the best experience possible while providing the highest quality of care.

For Newborns
If you’re the parent, or about to be the parent of a newborn, congratulations! The labor and delivery team at Stamford Hospital will let us know when your baby has arrived.
- At the time of delivery, you will be asked to designate a pediatrician for the care of your baby. When you mention our names, as pediatricians at the Stamford Health Medical Group, the hospital team will make sure to contact us for you. No further registration is needed.
- The staff pediatrician at Stamford Hospital will meet you the morning after delivery to do an initial assessment of baby and share that information with our practice.
- If you’re having your baby at a hospital other than Stamford, please ask the hospital staff to fax your child’s medical records to our office.
For Older Children
If you’re new to town or transferring from another practice, we would like to welcome you and your older child. Please call our office at 203.327.1055 so we can gather all necessary information and get your child registered.
- Please note we will need previous medical records prior to your child’s first well exam with our practice. We’ll ask you to register your child by filling out forms that our staff will provide.
For Infants
The first office visit for your baby is usually two to four days after your baby leaves the hospital.
At this visit, we’ll:
- Check your baby’s weight.
- Perform a physical exam.
- Answer any questions you may have about your baby’s development.
Depending on your baby’s specific needs, we may see him or her daily or every few days for the first two weeks of life.
Once we’re comfortable your baby is growing well, we will then schedule visits for the following ages: 1 month, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 15 months, 18 months, 24 months, and 30 months.
Please note: We require that your children have completed their entire primary vaccines by 2 years old at the latest. If you’re concerned about any of the vaccines, please contact us. If you absolutely refuse to vaccinate your child, we will ask you to find another pediatric practice that shares your philosophy.
For Toddlers & Older Children
After the 3-year checkup, we like to see children for a yearly exam until they turn 5.
From age 5 until puberty, we still prefer to see your child once a year for exams, but please check with your insurance provider about coverage.
If your child has ongoing or new medical conditions or takes daily or frequent medication, we may need to see your child more frequently.
For Teenagers
During the teen years, we suggest annual exams. One of our primary functions as pediatricians is counseling and guidance during what can be an emotionally challenging time for both adolescent boys and girls. We strive to maintain trusting doctor-patient relationships as your child navigates their new growth and development.
For All Children
Sick visits are available by appointment–usually for the same day you call or by walk-in during designated hours.
Seasonal Vaccines
Stamford Health Medical Group pediatricians follow the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention’s guidelines for injections to prevent against COVID-19, flu, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). Call your office to schedule an appointment and find out more information.
- COVID-19 Testing & Vaccine
COVID-19 PCR and rapid testing is done at both SHMG pediatric practices. We provide COVID-19 vaccination appointments for children over age 5; call 203.276.7300. - Flu Vaccine
We always recommend a seasonal flu vaccine for every one of our eligible patients. We usually hold flu clinics in the fall and will email you when dates become available. - RSV Prevention
Available for newborns and infants, the monoclonal antibody prevents RSV from entering the body’s cells by rendering immunity within about a week of injection.

TEENS & YOUNG ADULTSMental health conditions are common among teens and young adults. 1 in 5 live with a mental health condition—half develop the condition by age 14 and three quarters by age 24.
For some, experiencing the first signs can be scary and confusing. Discussing what you are going through with others is an important first step to getting help. Speaking up and asking for help is a sign of strength. You will be amazed by the support you get simply by asking.
