Stamford Hospital Awarded “A” Hospital Safety Grade from Leapfrog Group

STAMFORD, CT, May 1, 2024 – Today, Stamford Hospital announced they received an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group for Spring 2024. This is Stamford Hospital’s third consecutive “A” rating from Leapfrog. Out of 28 Connecticut hospitals to receive ratings from Leapfrog this reporting period, Stamford Hospital was one of only one of two hospitals in Fairfield County and one of 11 in the state to receive an “A.” This national distinction celebrates Stamford Hospital’s achievements in prioritizing patient safety by protecting patients from preventable harm.

“Upholding an “A” rating since Spring 2023 demonstrates our commitment to patient safety and high-quality care,” stated Dr. Rohit Bhalla, MD, MPH, Senior Vice President and Chief Clinical and Quality Officer at Stamford Health. “This achievement is a true testament to our dedicated caregivers who provide expert, compassionate care to our patients every day.”

Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 20 measures of safe practices, complications, and infections and patient experience.

“I am proud to say that by all reported metrics and considering ratings from all major agencies including The Leapfrog Group, Stamford Hospital is widely recognized for its commitment to high-quality care,” added Kathleen Silard, President and CEO. “I extend my gratitude to our entire staff for making patient safety and quality outcomes our number one priority.”
