  • EMERGENCY MEDICINE
Since 2002, Stamford Hospital has partnered with U.S. Acute Care Solutions (USACS) to provide Physician and Physician Assistant coverage to our Emergency Department. USACS is the largest physician owned Emergency Medicine group in the country. Currently USACS provides care to more than 6 million patients annually in over 200 hospitals located across 20 states. Physician ownership means that local leaders are committed to growing with hospital partners to deliver superior patient care. USACS clinicians staff the adult Emergency Department at Stamford Hospital along with the Pediatric Emergency Department and the Immediate Care Center at the Tully Health Center.

Patient experience is at the center of everything we do for patients. Most patients arriving to the Emergency Department will be placed directly in a treatment room and will bypass the waiting room. The majority of Emergency Department patients are seen by one of our Board-Certified providers within 30 minutes of arrival. A rigorous quality assurance program ensures that the best possible care is delivered to each and every patient. The Stanford Hospital Emergency Department has exceeded national benchmarks in providing quality care to patients with life-threatening emergencies such as heart attack, stroke and sepsis.

  • MEDICINE

The Department of Medicine at Stamford Health is a big tent, a “department of departments.” It encompasses 17 divisions representing diverse medical specialties, including more than 250 physicians as well as advanced practice nurses, nurse practitioners and physician assistants. These providers reflect a spectrum of practice arrangements, from affiliated community physicians to members of the Stamford Health Medical Group to hospital-based and contracted groups. • Pediatrics

    PEDIATRIC DEPARTMENT

The Department of Pediatrics is a collaboration of highly trained experts that offer unparalleled health care to children in the region. The Steven & Alexandra Cohen Children’s Institute comprises the Cohen Children’s Specialty Center located at Stamford Health’s Tully Health Center, the Cohen Pediatric Emergency Department, the Cohen Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and the Cohen Children’s Inpatient Unit. The NICU has earned the prestigious Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award for superior patient satisfaction for the past four years. In addition, the Department has achieved Bronze Safe Sleep certification.

For nearly 20 years, Pediatrics has been awarded grants from the Department of Public Health to administer the Medical Home Initiative-Southwest. This is a regional program that is dedicated to ensuring that children with special health care needs who are un- and under-insured gain access to the specialized health care they need. The team comprises a physician, a pediatric nurse practitioner, and a licensed clinical social worker, who serve as care coordinators.

The Department also oversees the Stamford Children’s Health Collaborative, a group of community agencies committed to networking and sharing information about programs and services that benefit the health of the region’s children.

Through the generous support of donors, like Steven and Alexandra Cohen and The Herbert and Nell Singer Foundation, all our facilities are state-of-the-art, and our goal of being a provider of comprehensive pediatric care is now a reality.
