What Is The Watchman Device?
The Watchman device offers a one-time, permanent implant for those with the abnormal heart rhythm known as atrial fibrillation (AFib). It, in turn, reduces the risk of stroke, eliminating the need for and long-term risk of bleeding caused by blood thinners.
If you’re considered a candidate for the Watchman, you can expect the procedure to take about an hour. Our highly skilled cardiac team will implant the FDA-approved Watchman device through a small opening in the upper part of your leg. Then, the device is carefully placed into the appropriate location in your heart. You’ll be under general anesthesia and will stay in the hospital overnight.
