(Stamford, CT, September 30, 2020) – On Wednesday, September 23, Kathleen Silard, President & CEO of Stamford Health, was voted onto the Board of Directors of AdvanceCT, a public/private partnership focused on economic development and job growth in Connecticut. AdvanceCT is led by former PepsiCo CEO, Indra Nooyi and former Webster Bank CEO and Chairman, James Smith.

After assuming office, Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont created this new public/private approach to economic development. AdvanceCT is overseen by a Board of Directors that includes corporate, nonprofit and academic leaders, and the state’s commissioner of economic and community development.

Silard will work with fellow Board members to engage businesses, retain companies in Connecticut and recruit out-of-state businesses. Her experience leading a 3,600-employee health system, and the key role that healthcare plays in helping businesses get back up and running, will assist the organization.

A major factor in Silard’s appointment is Stamford Health’s strong financial commitment to the communities it serves. Before being named President & CEO of Stamford Health in 2018, as Stamford Health’s Chief Operating Officer, Silard led the effort to build Stamford Hospital at its current site, an innovative, new 305-bed structure with an eye toward attracting investment into the community. Stamford Health is currently the largest employer in Stamford and the fifth largest health system in Connecticut with an estimated $1 billion economic benefit to the state during the most recent fiscal year.

“Healthcare is such a critical factor for job growth in the state of Connecticut and the quality of our provider network is one of our greatest assets. As a healthcare industry leader, we are confident Ms. Silard’s insight, experience and commitment to the state will be a great asset for AdvanceCT and Connecticut,” said Peter Denious, President and CEO of AdvanceCT.

“I’m proud to call Connecticut home,” remarked Silard. “Its location, talented workforce, forward-thinking universities and world-class healthcare systems make it a compelling place to do business. I look forward to collaborating with AdvanceCT in helping Connecticut rebound from this pandemic and meet the community’s economic needs,” she added.
