Comprehensive & Compassionate Heart Care

At Stamford Health, our world-class team’s top priority is making sure the patient – not the condition – is treated. They use their decades of experience, expertise, and training to treat the most basic to the most complex heart issues all while establishing a collaborative environment with necessary specialists.

Thanks to our long-standing relationship with Columbia University, we are able to bring the expertise of select heart surgeons from Columbia University Irving Medical Center right to Stamford Health. The surgeons perform both scheduled and emergency heart surgery on patients at Stamford Hospital, making access more convenient for patients and their families.

From the very beginning, each patient will work closely with the patient navigator, a health care professional who will act as a patient’s personal advocate and can help navigate the treatment process from pre-op through recovery. The navigator will partner with each patient and provide individualized patient education about their disease and treatment.

Our cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, electrophysiologists, interventional cardiologists, and their respective teams coordinate care with every patient’s primary care provider and any essential specialists.

For patients who need surgery, afterward they will consult with physical and occupational therapists, nutritionists, and other vital members of the interdisciplinary team.

Lifesaving Cardiac Surgery Allows Dad To Walk Daughter Down The Aisle

The July wedding of his daughter Molly was one of the most memorable events of Dr. George Chapar’s life. So was the lifesaving cardiac surgery at Stamford Health that allowed him to walk her down the aisle.

“It all started in early March,” he began, recounting the feeling of illness that struck him suddenly one afternoon. “My wife realized that something was wrong with me, and she called the ambulance that took me directly to Stamford Hospital. When I got there, I had a fever of 104.” Watch the video to learn more about Dr. Chapar’s story.
